From the Microsoft website about IExpress:

Express is a technology designed to simplify creation of a setup program. Using the step-by-step IExpress Wizard, you can create self-extracting files that automatically run the setup program contained inside. The setup program can be an .inf file or an executable program. IExpress technology automatically removes the setup files after installation, saving the user time and frustration.

The IExpress Wizard can help you carry out specialized installations of your customized browser package, such as determining whether the computer needs to be restarted after installation. You can find the IExpress Wizard (IExpress.exe) in the \\Tools folder.

Just type IExpress into the run box (Windows key + R) to get started.

With this program one can create a simple little trap for whoever you want.

For example, you can create a little icon that looks like this.

When that icon is clicked you can have a little windows pop up that looks like this.

If this interest you then you'll probably want to see what this hidden little program can really do.

How do you do that, exactly? Would you mind terribly walking me through this?

Re: Hidden program in Windows XP - IExpress

    Sure not a problem.

    • First open up notepad and create a file called filename.vbs ("filename" = whatever name you choose)
    • Paste the following text and then save the document.

Here's what I have for my .vbs file. You can add or remove text to your taste.

x = Msgbox("You dumb mother f*cker, did you really think you were going to see a Paris Hilton pic? Pressing either YES or NO will cause a system crash. *This command box is a test experiment on self-extracting executable XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwhatever you wantXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ",4+16 ,"SYSTEM CRASH WARNING!! RUN!!")

    • Now save your .vbs file to the desktop.
    • Right hand click on your .vbs file and select "create shortcut"
    • Next right-hand click on the shortcut you just made and select "properties".
    • Take out the .vbs in the file name
    • Next, find and select the "change icon" tab and choose another icon.

That should give you a better understanding of how to get started. You should be able to find more information if you want to take this hidden program a step further.
